Chris Porter is a composer of video game music from the United States. His love of game music started early in life with classic music from games such as Super Mario Brothers and Zelda. However, the most influential music was that which he heard in RPGs. The music from games like Xenogears, Wild Arms, and Final Fantasy had a huge impact on Chris, inspiring him to begin writing his own music in the style of video games. Chris began teaching himself guitar and piano in high school and has worked hard to develop his musical abilities ever since.

Chris has completed soundtrack work on several commercially released games, and is actively composing original soundtracks to a number of others. He has also contributed arrangements to multiple video game tribute albums, including those released by Materia Collective and Patient Corgi.

Chris graduated from the University of Michigan. While an undergraduate he spent ten months abroad studying at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. Fully taken by the language and culture, Chris decided to move back to Japan after graduating.
